No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It by Celia Kyle

About the Book:

The first day of Mia’s new life in Grayslake, Georgia is not going as planned. The house her grandfather left her looks ready to crumble, boxes cover every inch of the floor and—oh—there’s a bear cub in her pantry. It gets worse when the cub’s uncle comes by and busts out his fur and claws while on her front porch. Then it gets loads better because suddenly there’s a hot hunk of badge-wearing werebear on her lawn ready to rescue her. Yum. Of course, he has to ruin things by trying to take the cub out of her hands. Ha! The cub is hers… No ifs, ands, or bears about it.

Werebear Ty can’t seem to get the curvaceous, delectable Mia to understand that, even if she is one-quarter werebear, she isn’t keeping the cub. Ty is the Grayslake Itan, the clan’s leader, and the little werebear is going home with him… Unless it isn’t. It’s her smile. If she’d stop smiling and being gorgeous, his inner-bear would support him and Ty would get his way. But the beast wants to make their woman happy, so it’s perfectly content to let her do as she pleases. Then things change. Threats arise, danger comes close, and Ty demands she return to his den. No ifs, ands, or mates about that.

My Thoughts:

Such a fun and interesting book! I have never heard of this author, but really enjoy shifter books of all kinds. A lot of the new ones feature bears, but this was only my second time reading any werebear story.

I have to say, I really, really, really enjoyed Mia. She's strong, determined, and doesn't hold back what she wants to say. There are no qualm about how she feels and what she wants....and that is so refreshing in a heroine. Ty is big and strong and a true Alpha who only wants his mate (Mia) and goes all caveman to get her. Not good with a strong woman. I love that Gigi, his housekeeper, has the upper hand and acts like a mother figure to him. She tells him how to woo Mia, properly. It works and soon Mia realizes she is in love with the clan Itan.

The suspense part of the story line was enough to keep me entertained and engrossed, without taking away from the fun, love storyline. I hate when they are so different that they seem like 2 separate stories within a book, but this was not a problem. Having Parker, the cub, bring Ty and Mia together and also be the catalyst for the suspense drove the story and made me care more about the three of them.

I hope this series focuses on each of Ty's brothers and where they go in life. The detail and depth of their characters intrigued me and I want to know MORE and see them all find their HEA.

Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis

About the book:
After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he's back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she's not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.

Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben - even though he has absolutely no idea what she's done . . .

Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

My Thoughts:
Once in a Lifetime, by Jill Shalvis, is part of her Lucky Harbor series. So far, I have LOVED every single book in it. This story features Ben, the hometown hero/hottie and Aubrey, the hometown bad girl. Ben lost his wife a couple of years ago and has been afraid to move on. Aubrey has always felt unwanted and unloved. Aubrey walks into an AA meeting accidentally and heard the members speak about making amends. She decides to make a list and apologize to everyone she has wronged. Ben sees his name on the list and weasels his way in to driving her around town so he can keep tab on her. When these two collide, it's HOT and tender all at the same time.
Jill writes with hotness and humor all at the same time. If you ever need a book that makes you feel good, give this one a try!
