Overwhelmed by You - by Nashoda Rose

Title: Overwhelmed by You
Author: Nashoda Rose

About the Book:

KAT

I don’t beg.
I don’t cry.
And I don’t give second chances.

Ream, the lead guitarist of the rock band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot.
I hate him.

Until …

Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he was loud and obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever.
But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s steady confidence that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers.

Then…

Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first.

REAM

Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it, but hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

A contemporary romance with lots of angst

My Thoughts:

Ms. Rose...you did it again. You made me love a dark, angsty book. Overwhelmed by You is book #2 in the Tear Asunder series. The first book (and novella) was dark and full of unexpected twists. This one is no different. Just when I thought things were calm for Kat & Ream...BAM! More angst and surprises.

It picks up 2 years after book one. I did not see Kat's life heading the way it did, but I loved it. Also, I was in way prepared for her secret! WOW! Talk about a doozy!

Ream is broken. So very broken. But, he loves Kat and promises to make her his. Just when things were good and I thought they would get their HEA, something happens to change that.

I am really looking forward to more from this author. She has won me over with this series!

Diesel by Piper Malone

Title: Diesel
Author: Piper Malone
Genre: New Adult

About the Story:

Is he a snake in the garden…
Diesel guards her loyalties and her privacy fiercely. In order to protect both, she never wavers from her ironclad shell of self-control. So when intrepid entertainment blogger Elliot Archer breaches the gates of Eden, the nightclub sensation over which she reigns, her defenses heighten. Is Elliot here to document her kingdom, or tear apart her paradise?

Or the key to her salvation…
Just as she feared, Elliott begins to break down her walls. Her desires stir, ignited by his sinful body and heated stares. With his tender words, strong heart, and quest to make her whole, Elliot opens her soul as no one ever has.

Or the push to her downfall?
When Diesel finally releases the last pieces of herself to Elliot, her kingdom is set ablaze, scorching the heart she safeguarded for years. Can Elliot’s love be enough to heal her wounds before it is too late?

My Thoughts:

Diesel is by a new to me author, Piper Malone. The story starts out with Elliot being forced to check out a HOT new club in NYC and meet with the club owner, Diesel. Assuming Diesel is a 'he', Elliot is stunned at their first meeting. Diesel keeps herself at arm's length from anyone wanting to get too close. However, Elliot is one hot male specimen and D can't get him out of her mind.

This book has all the potential to be an amazing story! The writing is really great and has just enough details without being too much. The sexual tension between Elliot and Diesel is HOT, HOT, HOT!!  Unfortunately, the story fell flat at the end and became predictable.  The conflict between them was so out of character for Elliot and could have been resolved if he listened. His reaction to the situation was contradictory to how he acted throughout the rest of the story. It ended the way I assumed it would and didn't wow me.
