Rush by Maya Banks

Author: Maya Banks
Series: Breathless

About the Book:

Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking...

When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.

Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.

As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected

My Review:

I'm a huge fan of Maya Banks and have never read anything of her's that I didn't like. That said, I had reservations about this book after reading the first chapter. My first reaction was "Oh Gawd, not another 50 Shades-esqe book!". I'm so glad I stuck it out and finished it, though.

This is the first book in the Breathless Series, so some of the book was spent explaining the relationship between all of the friends and Mia. Mia's brother raised her after their parents died in a car crash. His friends and business partners have been involved in her life since then.

While there are parts that are definitely similar to that other book, this one has a STRONG heroine. While Gabe does enjoy BDSM, it's not the central part of their relationship. He does push Mia's buttons and makes demands, but they are never overly harsh.

Dixie Cowboy by Dolores Wilson

Author: Dolores Wilson

About the Book:

Katlyn Mays never defies her dad’s orders, but how can she bear to evict elderly Frank Davis from his beautiful Georgia ranch, not to mention evicting Tyler Davis, the incredibly sexy cowboy who’s fighting to save it for his Uncle Frank?

Her gaze snapped to the message board on the porch. Hiring: Someone to handle reservations, make deposits, pay bills, and manage housekeeping staff. The Dixie Rooster is a working dude ranch.

“Hi, there,” Frank Davis said. “I take it you’re the reporter from the Cantor Gazette?”

Confused, Katy stammered for a second then found her voice. “No, sir. I’m Katlyn—”

“Tyler?” Mr. Davis looked at the tall cowboy standing next to his wheel chair. “Didn’t you tell me the reporter from the newspaper was here?”

“I’m Tyler Davis.” The cowboy shook her hand. “I’ll be managing the ranch until Uncle Frank gets back on his feet.”

He held her hand longer than necessary. Blood hummed through her veins. Captured by his gaze and lost in the crystal blue of his eyes, she felt their power to the bottom of her stomach.

“Well, Katy,” Tyler said, “what can we help you with?”

Panic forced a knot in her throat. Impulsively, she ripped the want ad from the message board and then shook it slightly in Tyler’s direction. “I want this job.”

My Review:

What a cute and fun book! Katy grows from a meek do-gooder, who's only goal is to keep her father happy, to a woman who won't settle for anything less than what she deserves. Tyler loves his family and doesn't want to see his Uncle Frank lose everything.

If you are looking for a simple, entertaining, and fun read, this book is for you. I really enjoyed the banter between Uncle Frank, Katy, and Tyler and seeing the characters grow.

The Wicked Woods by Kelly Apple

Author: Kelly Apple
Series: Monstrous Tales

Author Blurb:

Ari’s always had a thing for monsters. Big ones, small ones, and all the ones in between. They turn her on like no human can. She’d be an ordinary girl if not for that one little quirk.

Since monsters aren’t real, she’s resigned herself to loving them in her imagination.

But, as Ari is about to find out, monsters are real and now one of them has her in their grasp. Will reality be better than fantasy? Or will she walk away and lose her one chance at fulfilling her wildest dreams?

Warning: This book contains a girl who isn’t afraid of monsters and a monster who wouldn’t mind a special lady friend. You’ll never look at those all-night monster marathons on TV the same way again

My Review:

First off, this is not your average romance, paranormal romance, erotica style book. The hero has tentacles (yes, I said tentacles) and uses them to the full advantage of the heroine. This is a short story full of steamy, hot sex and nothing more. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It's well written and done nicely for something so "out of the box". I can't wait to read the next story in this series!

The Christmas Top by Christi Snow

Author: Christi Snow
Series: 1NS

From the Author:

All he wants for Christmas...

It's time for Mark Cummins to come out of the closet. He's ready, but he's never been topped. Asking Madame Eve for the one-night stand of his fantasies, he hopes she can grant his Christmas wish.

He's a less than merry gentleman...

Jason Wieland's life partner died in a horrific hate crime two years ago and he hasn't taken a lover since. He knows it's time and he reaches out to 1Night Stand dating service to find the right man to light up his holiday. But when masculine, sexy, and extremely straight Mark shows up, he doesn't know what to do.

Is this 1Night Stand a cruel joke or has Madame Eve truly worked Christmas Magic?

My Review:

What an amazingly perfect story for my busy life! This is Christi's first m/m story and it's absolutely perfect! Jason is sweet, yet strong. Ready to jump back into "dating", his BFF, Molly, encourages him to meet the man Madame Eve picked for him. Low and behold, it's someone he knows from his past and he is afraid, at first, to go through with the date.

Christi captured the angst, emotion, hotness, and tenderness in this story. I can't wait to read more m/m stories from her! If you have never read a m/m story before, this is a really good one to start with!
