Lyric and Lingerie by Tracy Wolff & Katie Graykowski - Blog Tour with Review

Hey Everyone!
Today I'm featuring Lyric and Lingerie as part of the book's Blog Tour!

About the Book:

From New York Times Bestselling author Tracy Wolff and International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski comes a sexy tale of love, laughter and lingerie …

Lyric Wright is an off-beat astrophysicist whose life is falling apart around her. After losing her fiancĂ© to a hula dancing astrologer and losing her dress to an ill-fated leap of faith, she’s sure there’s nowhere for her life to go but up. At least until she sits down on a trans-Pacific flight next to the one man she never wanted to see again—the boy she’d lost her heart and her virginity too back before she’d learned that friendship and football don’t equal true love.

Broken down quarterback Heath Montgomery is on a plane ride to nowhere. Dodging the phone call he’s certain will end his professional football career for good, he might be Texas bound, but he knows there’s nowhere for him to go but down. But that’s before his childhood best friend and confidante plops back into his life wearing nothing but duct tape and a bad attitude. Determined not to lose her again (especially since he isn’t sure why he lost her the first time) and desperate to outrun his own shadowy future, Heath sets out to take Lyric on the ride of her life. Too bad she only dates men who actually know what her butterfly nebula is … and can find it without the help of a star chart.

Add in one passive-aggressive flight attendant with delusions of couture, a cherry red car with a crush on Neil Diamond, an over-protective sister with a black belt in Krav Maga, two parents determined to marry their spinster daughter off to the hometown hero no matter the cost, and a whole lot of lingerie popping up in all the right places at all the wrong times and you’ve got an unforgettable love story that fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson won’t want to miss!

Excerpt:

Tre chose that moment to flounce down the aisle. He stopped at her seat, held a blanket out to her. “Here’s your cape, Wonder Woman. I thought you might be cold.” He glanced down at the shoes and purse she’d crammed into the seat pocket in front of her. “You need to stow those under the seat in front of you. In case of turbulence, the last thing Wonder Woman needs is a stiletto in the eye.”
“I couldn’t bend that far. The dress is too tight.”
“Whining is so unbecoming. Don’t you know we girls have been suffering for fashion for centuries?” But he reached forward and pulled the shoes out. “We’ll just store these overhead. No bending necessary.”
He flicked the blanket open, stood back debating his options, and then slid a corner into her cleavage like a huge napkin before tucking the rest around her. “Can I get you anything else?”
Lyric swallowed the lump in her throat, absurdly grateful for the fact that she’d somehow ended up on a plane with a flight attendant who was kind and benevolent in his own bitchy way. “A glass of water would be nice.”
He patted her shoulder. “Oh, honey, you’ve earned a lot more than a little H two uh-oh. I’ll be right back.” Beside her, the newspaper was shaking. She hoped it was laughter and not a seizure, but from this angle she couldn’t be sure. What was with this guy anyway? He made the Unabomber seem chatty.
Tre came back brandishing an entire basket of liquor bottles in one hand and a glass of ice in the other. “I didn’t think one would be enough. What would you like?”
Lyric eyed the display, thought of the long flight in front of her, and said, “Yes, please,” as she scooped the entire basket right out of his hand. “And a glass of cranberry juice when you get a chance.”
“Great idea. Give your liver a vitamin infusion before hitting the hard stuff … like breaking the fall from a tenstory building with a pillow. Just for fun, I’ll bring you some tomato juice too. I’d hate to have to slap your forehead later because you coulda had a V8.” He glanced at the newspaper. “Can I get you anything, big guy?”
The newspaper didn’t so much as quiver, but a muffled, “No, I’m good,” did float over the top of it.
“He’s famous,” Tre mouthed. He leaned down and whispered next to her ear, “Who knew a newspaper was so versatile? Reading material and shield from the hordes of comatose passengers who are even now leaping over the seats to get to him, pen in hand for autographs. It’s a good thing you’re duct-taped into that dress, Wonder Woman, otherwise you might jump him too.”
“Who is it? The Rock?” She would have eased up and peeked over the paper, but in this dress, easing was anything but easy.
The paper rattled angrily, and Tre’s eyes widened. “I don’t think he’s a WWF fan. I’ll get that cranberry juice now.”
Traitor. Lyric watched him hightail it down the aisle. Oh sure, he had no problem flouncing down here and riling up Mr. Uncongeniality, but the second things got a little tense, he left her to deal with the fallout. This was all she needed … a narcissistic, Rock-hating seatmate with a bionic knee and possession of HER armrest.
She opened a bottle of vodka. To hell with the cranberry juice. She couldn’t wait that long.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him lower the paper about halfway. She couldn’t see much from this vantage point, and after Tre’s latest stunt, she didn’t want to be too obvious. Famous people didn’t like being gawked at—or so she’d heard.
Under the guise of turning on her overhead light, she elbowed her way onto the armrest and tried to peek around the paper. It moved to block her view. This guy was cagey, but curiosity had been her guiding star—take that, Rob; she had stars too—for as long as she could remember. Since subterfuge wasn’t her strong suit, she shoved the basket his way. “There’s enough for two.”
He snorted. “It looks like there’s enough there for half the plane.”
Lyric froze, vodka bottle halfway to her lips. She knew that voice. And not from a Hollywood movie or TV show. No, she knew it because it was the last thing she’d heard before her heart had shattered like Humpty Dumpty—into so many pieces it could never be put back together again.

My Review:

Two childhood friends turned lovers is the theme of this story. Lyric’s father was rushed to the hospital after a massive heart attack and Lyric flies from Hawaii to Texas to be with her family. A series of hilarious events lead up and continue after she realizes her seatmate is none other than Heath Montgomery, the star football player of the Houston Wranglers! He also happens to be her former best friend and teenage love.
This story is so darn funny!! Lyric takes life seriously because she is an astrophysicist. Heath likes tall tales, jokes, and letting loose, so the sarcastic banter between the two kept me laughing and wanting to read more! It’s the perfect light rom-com book to take up an afternoon!

Release Day and Review: The Visitor by Amanda Stevens

Title: The Visitor
Author: Amanda Stevens
Series: The Graveyard Queen #4
My Rating: 5 Stars

About the book:

My name is Amelia Gray. I'm the Graveyard Queen.

Restoring lost and abandoned cemeteries is my profession, but I'm starting to believe that my true calling is deciphering the riddles of the dead. Legend has it that Kroll Cemetery is a puzzle no one has ever been able to solve. For over half a century, the answer has remained hidden within the strange headstone inscriptions and intricate engravings. Because uncovering the mystery of that tiny, remote graveyard may come at a terrible price.

Years after their mass death, Ezra Kroll's disciples lie unquiet, their tormented souls trapped within the walls of Kroll Cemetery, waiting to be released by someone strong and clever enough to solve the puzzle. For whatever reason, I'm being summoned to that graveyard by both the living and the dead. Every lead I follow, every clue I unravel brings me closer to an unlikely killer and to a destiny that will threaten my sanity and a future with my love, John Devlin.

My Review:

I have been a HUGE fan of the Graveyard Queen series, so I could not wait for The Visitor to be released! I’m so excited that I got an ARC and dove right in and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!  In this book we learn that there is more to Amelia than just being able to see and sense ghosts. She is still seeing the sexy John Devlin, but their relationship has even more holes than a block of Swiss cheese thanks to his reluctancy to share the details of his life with her. It all puts Amelia on edge and that does not help when her home in broken in to and she ends up in the hospital with a head injury. The injury leads to even more paranormal activity and more questions than answers for Amelia.

There is so much creepiness and suspense in this story that kept me on the edge of my seat! Things in the wall, a doppelganger visiting her from beyond, and learning more about her powers creates such an intriguing and mysterious story. I LOVE IT! Of course, she has a new graveyard to work in and that, also, opens up new channels for Amelia to explore and learn about her past, her present, and her future. She and Devlin need to overcome their tension and work together to fight the darkness that lingers around the grave digger.

If you haven’t read the rest of the series, I highly suggest you do. Not because you will be lost, because you won’t. But, it is such a wonderfully, chilling, suspenseful, creepy, fantasy riddled set of stories that any fan of the genre is sure to love! This book did not disappoint me and I cannot wait for the next installment of this amazing series!

My Review:

**My review is based on reading ONLY Guarding Her Secret by Candice Gilmer. I have not read the rest of the stories in the Anthology**

Guarding Her Secret, by Candice Gilmer, is one of the short stories in the Taming the Monster Anthology. It is the only one that I have read, so far, but just this one story is worth the price tag!  Featuring Reese from Ms. Gilmer’s Saving Her Destiny, this fairy is called upon to protect and talk to his ex-girlfriend, Viola. Viola lives in the Highlands and runs a bar, talking and mingling with the locals and visitors there to see if the lore of the town is true. What is the lore? The Loch and the Loch Ness Monster. Viola keeps tabs on the stories and sightings to make sure the tourism stays and the creature isn’t seen too often or too well. Why does she care? Because Viola IS the Loch Ness Monster! She was cursed by a witch many years ago because as a mermaid she had to stay in salt water and could not enter bodies of fresh water. Now she has to enter the Loch every three days before she transforms or she will become the monster forever.

Also in the area is a famous TV host of Exploration TV, Jordan Doors, who investigates folk lore and proves them wrong. Only, this time his team actually sees the Loch Ness Monster with a fairy on its back and then leaks the footage to the public. Reece and the Templar have to fix this mess and make sure the humans do not discover the truth to the myth of the creature. But, while there he falls back in love with Viola and doesn’t remember why he abandoned her in the first place.

Having read and LOVED previous books featuring the residents of Avalon, I had high hopes for this story. What I got was not only everything I hoped for, but a lot more! Not only did the details bring the story to life, but they created such a vivid imagery that made me want to get to know the cast of characters on a more personal level as friends! This author breaths so much life into her work that I never want the story to end and want more and more and more. Candice Gilmer has fast become one of my go-to authors because whatever she writes I love.

Dark Within by Candice Gilmer Review

Title: Dark WIthin
Author: Candice Gilmer
Series: Mythical Knights

My Rating: 5 Stars

Book Blurb:

The Mythical Knights, Book 1

There was a time Marissa van Dyke loved Halloween. Then tragedy struck. Now the sight of a jack-o-lantern only reminds her of what she's lost. In fact, she'd prefer to just hibernate.

But recently her nightmares are becoming too intense to ignore. Dreams filled with horror-movie creatures that come closer to killing her every time. Where these vampires and werewolves are coming from, she doesn't know. She only knows they're relentless.

Neil Drigan has no interest in finding a mate. Bind himself to one woman? No thank you. Permanent is for the wolf pack Alpha--his brother. Yet lately he persistently dreams about running, in full wolf form, to save a beautiful woman who smells of flowers--and death.

At first the woman's identity is a mystery, until he realizes the dreams are a residual imprint of something that really happened. Not only is the woman temptation wrapped in real flesh and blood, she's still in danger. And the one thing he never thought he wanted.

Originally released as "Unholy Night" 2008-2012. Since expanded and fully revamped. (No pun intended, lol. Okay, maybe a little one)

Warning: Werewolves, vampires, Templar Knights with attitudes, and a girl who must face her biggest fear in order to find love.

My Review:

Dark Within is Book One is the Mythical Knights Series, but a continuation about the Drigan Brothers from The Brightest Shadow (book # 0.5). Neil is the focus in this story and as a playboy he doesn’t have any interest in finding a mate and settling down. That is, until he dreams of saving a woman that smells of flowers and death. He insists on finding this woman and discovers it is Marissa – a friend of his brother’s mate.

Marissa has been plagued with sadness. Halloween used to be her favorite holiday, but then her parents were killed one Halloween and now it is a terrible time of year full of sadness. She has been having horrible nightmares and is covered in unexplainable bruises. But, Neil is the one thing that makes her smile – even though she can’t figure him out most of the time.

I absolutely love this series and the Drigan brothers. They are so strong, and sexy, and protective of those they care about. Neil tries so hard to do the right thing and be the good guy, something ingrained in his family. This trait just makes me love these guys that much more…swoon…and Neil, especially. He can’t tell Marissa what he is, but he has a duty to protect her from her attackers. What woman wouldn’t want a guy that feels that way? Marissa is too hurt and traumatized to realize how good Neil is for her, so she pushes him away.
I was excited to see David and Kelsey in this book, again. I love how protective David is of his mate’s friend. Kelsey and Marissa are as close as sisters, so the bond between all of them melts my heart. The way the pair tried to coax Neil and Kelsey together was entertaining on it’s own.

I really, really, enjoy this series and this book. I can’t wait for more of the Drigan clan from the author.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book for review.

Brightest Shadow by Candice Gilmer Release Day!!

Title: Brightest Shadow
Author: Candice Gilmer
Series: Mythical Knights Book #0.5
Heat Meter: Hot
My Rating: 5 Stars

Blurb:

The darkest shadows sometimes have the brightest moments.

The Mythical Knights, book #0.5

Losing a father is always hard, losing a father who’s a pillar of the community is harder.

Losing a father who’s the alpha of your werewolf pack is harder still, yet that’s exactly where David Drigan finds himself--lost and rudderless after the death of his father.

Nonetheless, the final transformation to turn David into the leader has yet to come to him, leaving him and his family wondering, will he ever be strong enough to lead his pack?

Trying to step into his place in society, David meets Kelsey.

Blonde. Curvy. Attitude.

And a little dark.

There’s just something about her that makes David’s beastly desires surface unlike ever before. The need to take her and protect her, if only from herself, overwhelms him.

Not that Kelsey would let him. She doesn’t need anyone to take care of her. Never has. An absentee family taught her one thing--take care of yourself, because no one’s going to do it for you.

But this David guy? There’s just something different about him. At first, she thought it was because his family actually likes each other--a foreign concept for sure.

One night at her favorite decrepit amusement park, she learns there’s a lot more to David than she ever expected.

There’s a lot hidden in the shadows.

Can they find the light, lost in the dark?

My Review:

Wow! This was a fantastic beginning to Candice Gilmer’s Mythical Knights Series! Kelsey has been on her own since she was young. She watched her mother depend on man after man and owe them for their help. She vowed to not be that kind of woman, so she tolerates her boss and his bad attitude because she doesn’t want to depend on anyone but herself for income. After organizing a company event for her bosses, Kelsey quickly gets dressed in one of the upper offices before going down to make sure things are running smoothly.

David’s father just passed away and now the title of Alpha falls to him.  Unfortunately, the Alpha has not come to him, yet, and so he and his family have been waiting to see if it would or if it skipped over him. Meanwhile, he and his family were being honored at a corporate event and he goes into an office to escape and find some quiet. He walks in on Kelsey changing and instantly feels a spark when he helps her zip up her dress. From that moment on, the two of them get together, again, when David goes to her office to sign some paperwork. Her boss sees David there and instantly goes off on Kelsey, blaming her for ruining the deal and having access to confidential information. David lets her boss have it, and Kelsey quits her job, not knowing where her next paycheck will come from or how she is going to survive on her own.

Kelsey takes David on a date to an abandoned amusement park, but they are ambushed and have to run and hide to save their lives. David reveals his secret to her and she takes it much better than he thought she would. Unfortunately, they have to escape through some air vents, but manage to get a message to David’s brother asking for help before they are killed.  Kelsey becomes enveloped in David’s world and must make an important decision that impacts both of their lives forever.
Brightest Shadow is easily one of my favorite stories of 2015! The author’s world building and storytelling abilities are phenomenal!  Candice Gilmer is becoming one of my favorite authors with her writing style and ability to tell an interesting and unique paranormal story while keeping the reader engaged and entertained. There was not a moment where I felt like I had to put the book down because I needed a break. I could not get enough of this story and these characters!!
I can’t wait to read more of this series! I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good paranormal story!

Here is an excerpt from my favorite from them all:

Sexting Texas

“Got ‘em.” Jangling her keys at him to show her success, Texas pulled open the screen door. It took her a moment to get the key in the lock, but she managed and the tumblers clicked. She turned to thank him. “Goodni—”

He stood close, too close, his big frame crowding her space. She glanced up at his face, but it was too dark to make out his expression. The hand at her waist pushed her against the door. His head lowered. Warm breath teased her lips, and the slight scent of beer tickled her nose.

“Will?” She barely got the question out before his lips brushed hers softly, lightly. Her tummy took a little tumble. Then his mouth opened over hers, his tongue moving in slow to skim hers, and the little tumble turned into a high-rise free fall.

A low groan rumbled in his throat. His other hand palmed the back of her head as his hips ground into hers. She arched against him, aching for the hand on her ribs to venture farther up, aching for his muscular thigh to slide between her legs.

His tongue eased from her mouth, and his lips were gone, along with the weight of his body. The last to leave were his hands as he stepped back and adjusted the hat cocked to one side of his head. He cleared his throat. “Sorry.”

She wasn’t. Like the kiss they’d shared fourteen years ago, this one was a total surprise. And like that kiss, it rocked her world. She hadn’t even thought about stopping him, not for a second. Wished he’d do it again. “Too much alcohol.”

“Yeah, and talk of sex.”

“Huh? Oh, yeah.” Definitely.

He backed up to the edge of the porch. “See you Monday night.”

“Monday?” God, she sounded like a moron. What was it they said about alcohol and brain cells?

“Town meeting, remember?”

Texas groaned. Maybe she’d get drunk again Monday night so she’d have an excuse not to go. “I hate those things.”

“Me, too.” Will pivoted on the ball of one boot and took the steps two at a time. “Night.”

“Night.” Texas watched him for a second, that sauntering walk unmistakable, then sighed and let herself in the house. She shut the door, leaned against it, and traced her lips with fingers that shook. No doubt about it, William Charles Sanderson had kissed her for the second time in her life. And once again he’d apologized.

My Review:

This is a fantastic collection of stories from a group of very talented authors. I read them all, and while they were ALL amazing, one really stood out to me: Sexting Texas.

Will and Texas are friends. Very good friends. But, Will has been in love with Texas and isn't sure what to do about it. She has been getting sexy texts from a wrong number and it really turns her on! This intrigues Will, who uses this to begin sending his own sexts to Texas in hopes of changing their friendship into something more.

Texas is shy, but she is all for releasing a little sexual tension with sexy Will. He pull out all the stops and their friendship eventually turns to much, much, more!

I absolutely love friends to lovers stories and this one is on the of the BEST I have ever read! Darah's characters are very realistic. I did not want to put the book down until I was finished!

A 5 star rating for Sexting Texas!!

As for the other stories:  They are all wonderful and very entertaining! Only one left me not wanting to read more, but the rest of them were above average!

My overall Rating: 4.5 Stars (which rounds up to 5)

RELEASE DAY!! Through the Veil by Christi Snow

Title: Through the Veil
Author: Christi Snow
Genre: Fantasy, Post Apocalyptic, Paranormal Romance
Where to buy:

About the Story:

58 years ago a gorge opened up from Mobile, AL to Quebec City, Canada to split the United States into the Western States (WS) and the Eastern States (ES).

40 years later a fog rolled in on the WS that they called the Veil. Within twelve hours it formed an impenetrable wall between the two sides.

It’s been 18 years since anyone has known what’s happening on the other side of the Veil.

Now, Lori, an Other, in a desperate attempt at escape from the ES’s torture and experimentation, has crossed the Veil and found a world beyond belief.

Marcus is a Warrior, but when Lori collapses at his feet wounded and exhausted, he knows he has to protect her. But seeing that she’s the first person he’s seen in 18 years without wings, he’s worried about what her appearance means for his people and the world they’ve created since the Veil fell.

Two new societies: one built on a respect for the natural order of nature and the world, the other built on mistrust and corruption. Can they learn to co-exist once again?

My Review:

This is a book unlike any other I have read. The world that the author created is so unique and creative, keeping the reader wanting more!

For the last 18 years, the East and West have been separated by a thick fog that is called the Veil. No one can penetrate it....until now. Lori is an other and has the power to go through the Veil, which she does. She falls at the feet of Warrior Marcus and thus the story begins.

Marcus and the rest of the Warriors from the Western States live in TREES. They built tree houses for them to live in and escape the predators that live on the ground. They get there by flying up to their house. Yes!! The Warriors all have beautiful wings!

This story is so complex and unique in a good way. The chemistry between Lori and Marcus is fantastic!! Even the secondary characters have such a strong bond with each other, making the wait for book #2 difficult! There is suspense, love, romance, fantasy, and so much more within this book. The Warriors are so sexy and HOT!! The leaders of the Others are intense and sinister. There is something for everyone within this one story!

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading. FIVE STARS from me!!

About the Book:

You can take the motorcycle chick out of the club, but she’ll always come back.

When her momma saddled her with a name like Ever, she didn’t have a prayer of a normal life. Mix in a motorcycle club and a lot of rough adoptive fathers, and Ever is raised not to take any flack. Five years ago she battled her way out of the Life, got a degree and a good job. The only thing that would bring her back to Heller’s Gap and within range of her ex is revenge.

Jamison’s motorcycle club doesn’t live, breathe, and ride for drugs and guns, unless they’re fighting to uncover the roots of the crimes. After years of watching his friends and loved ones die, Jamison’s only desire is to stop more of the trade from coming into Heller’s Gap. At least until he gets an eye—and hand—full of the redheaded vixen, Ever.

In spite of the world she hates, Ever can’t stay away from the god dressed in black leather. When he discovers she’s practically MC royalty, and that she’s being hunted by her ex and his gang, Jamison’s instincts to protect rev to new speeds. He’d do just about anything to keep her, even help her get the revenge she craves…if it doesn’t break him first

Excerpt:

The instant he walked into The Gearhead bar, she knew it. Chatter stuttered to a stop, and the cover band seemed to trip on the beat. Without looking over her shoulder, Ever felt Jamison’s heavy stare.

A shiver raced down her spine, but she managed to keep from contorting into a strange shape on the barstool. Jamison Montgomery. Hell, even his name had serious swagger.

Gripping her glass, she stared at the green contents. Sex with an Alligator was her drink of choice, which had amused the hell out of Jamison from the very beginning. Ever hitched her boot heel on the stool rung and tried not to squirm.

From the corner of her eye she glimpsed the man who stopped every lady—and quite a few men—in their tracks. Six-foot-two with a chiseled chest that served as a fine pillow. Not that she’d admit it to anyone.

The pretty bartender leaned across the polished surface. “Wow, look at him. I bet a girl could ride him to Sturgis and back.”

As if she didn’t know exactly who the brunette referred to, Ever glanced around. And instantly regretted it.

Jamison’s deep hazel gaze latched onto her like a motorhead attached himself to a restored Harley. Ever’s skin broke out in goose bumps at the sight of the same five o’clock shadow that had burned her skin so deliciously not twelve hours ago.

She clenched her knees together and took a slug of the green drink that tasted like a sour apple hard candy.
“Do you know who that is?” the bartender asked.

Barely turning her head, Ever tried not to let him catch her gaze again, but damn if he wasn’t a professional at it. She let him consume her with his eyes a heartbeat too long. Then shaking her head, she dragged her gaze away from his ruggedly beautiful face and tried to play it cool. “Just some dirtbag.”

Her drawl was Deep South even to her own ears—something Jamison had commented on. That and her name. There weren’t a lot of girls named Ever on the big blue ball they called Earth. When explaining her name, she always claimed her mother had named her this, because given a choice, she’d never, ever get pregnant again.

Three stools down, the scrape of metal legs on the dusty wood floor made Ever’s skin prickle. Anything the man touched or looked at turned her into runny grits. The bartender smoothed her hands over her perfectly trim hips before bouncing down to take his order.

“What can I get ya tonight, loverboy?”

“Double of Jack.” When he spoke, his gritty tone ignited Ever. Too well she recalled him calling her baby in the same voice, sounding as if he’d swallowed gaskets and chased them with moonshine.

Ever’s fists clenched with fresh need.

She’d regretted coming back to this Podunk town where she’d spent too many years as someone’s wife. Then the purdiest man in the state of Alabama had wandered through the door.

Too bad he was not a cowboy. Or a banker. A post office worker. Hell, she’d prefer a sewer employee over another man wearing leather and sporting too much horsepower.

She shifted in her seat, aware of Jamison’s gaze. She didn’t dare turn her head because her face would light up like the Fourth of July. With a complexion like hers, she had little control over her blushes.

Last night Jamison kissed her heated cheeks and rumbled a laugh. “You match your hair,” he’d said.

“I’ve gotta use the lady’s room. Save my drink.” Ever’s mutter to the waitress didn’t go unnoticed by Mr. Tight Jeans. She didn’t get halfway down the corridor leading to the restrooms when leather and earthy aftershave overwhelmed her.
He grabbed her elbow and whirled her. Her back struck the wall, but he slid a hand behind her in time to cushion the impact. As Jamison leaned in, breath minty and lips inviting as hell, she panted for control.

“Just some dirtbag, huh?”

He was dressed to kill in those dark jeans, his motorcycle club T-shirt, and a black leather vest that fitted to every muscled inch of his torso. Ever’s knees sagged, and he trapped her more firmly against the wall.

Dipping his head, he nuzzled her throat. She sucked in a harsh breath and fought the urge to twist her fingers into his leather cut and yank him down. The memory of those heated lips gliding over her flesh was almost too much to bear.
“Was I just some dirtbag to you last night?”

“Y-yes.” Her whisper was a lie, and they both knew it. God, how was she going to continue to resist this man? Every nerve ending in her body begged for his callused touch. But no, she had too much to lose.

Going back to the Life wasn’t an option. She’d busted her ass to break free of the world of guns, drugs, and anything on two wheels.

In the background the band struck a new song, the drummer a little too enthusiastic. Heller’s Gap had never been known for its musical talent, but someone had to keep couples revolving on The Gearhead’s dance floor.

What the hell had she been thinking to even come into a biker bar? Old habits would kill her in the end.

My Thoughts:

Where do I even begin? Oh, Jamison. You stole my heart and I don't want it back!

This is a MC book like no other. Jaimson is part of the Hell's Son's MC and they are "good". Fighting drugs, crime, and with the law on their side, they keep the streets clean in their town. Ever comes back to town for revenge and sets eyes on Jaimson. Not wanting to be a part of The Life again, she tries to fight her desire for Jamison. But, that is just a waste of time because he wants her and he wants her BAD. The passion between these two is combustible!

This book has everything I LOVE in a story - HOT guys, SUPER HOT hero, a kick ass heroine who can fight for herself, but is ok with letting her man fight for her. Did I mention the hero, Jamison? I pictured him as a cross between Jax (from SOA) and Joe Manganiello. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm.  I did not want to put it down and even dragged out finishing it. I DID NOT WANT IT TO END!! I definitely have a massive book hangover from Love Ties.

Overwhelmed by You - by Nashoda Rose

Title: Overwhelmed by You
Author: Nashoda Rose

About the Book:

KAT

I don’t beg.
I don’t cry.
And I don’t give second chances.

Ream, the lead guitarist of the rock band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot.
I hate him.

Until …

Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he was loud and obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever.
But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s steady confidence that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers.

Then…

Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first.

REAM

Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it, but hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

*Warning contains violence, sexual content, and coarse language. Some scenes may be triggers. Mature audiences 18+

A contemporary romance with lots of angst

My Thoughts:

Ms. Rose...you did it again. You made me love a dark, angsty book. Overwhelmed by You is book #2 in the Tear Asunder series. The first book (and novella) was dark and full of unexpected twists. This one is no different. Just when I thought things were calm for Kat & Ream...BAM! More angst and surprises.

It picks up 2 years after book one. I did not see Kat's life heading the way it did, but I loved it. Also, I was in way prepared for her secret! WOW! Talk about a doozy!

Ream is broken. So very broken. But, he loves Kat and promises to make her his. Just when things were good and I thought they would get their HEA, something happens to change that.

I am really looking forward to more from this author. She has won me over with this series!

Torn From You/With You by Nashoda Rose

Author: Nashoda Rose
Series: Tear Asunder

About Torn From You:

Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.

At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.

Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong.

(It is highly recommended to read "With You" the novella first).

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

My thoughts:

First of all, this is a VERY dark romance. If you have have issues with reading about abuse against women, disturbing situations, and sexual abuse, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!

Normally, this is not the type of book I want to read. But, this author weaves a story so intriguing and heartbreaking that I could not put it down! I laughed, I cried, I yelled at the book....at some points I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room! It really is such a disturbing tale, but I loved it anyway. It caused me to feel so many emotions while reading and isn't that what a good book should do? While the story itself disturbed me, the book just sucked me in and kept my attention from beginning to end. I won't summarize the story because that would give too much away, but I wanted to hate Logan/Sculpt. I honestly did not want Emily with him after all that happened. But, this author made my heart break for him and I thought of him as much as a victim as Emily. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes damaged characters and a roller coaster story.

***In order to fully understand this story, read the short story With You BEFORE reading Torn From You.

The Christmas Top by Christi Snow

Author: Christi Snow
Series: 1NS

From the Author:

All he wants for Christmas...

It's time for Mark Cummins to come out of the closet. He's ready, but he's never been topped. Asking Madame Eve for the one-night stand of his fantasies, he hopes she can grant his Christmas wish.

He's a less than merry gentleman...

Jason Wieland's life partner died in a horrific hate crime two years ago and he hasn't taken a lover since. He knows it's time and he reaches out to 1Night Stand dating service to find the right man to light up his holiday. But when masculine, sexy, and extremely straight Mark shows up, he doesn't know what to do.

Is this 1Night Stand a cruel joke or has Madame Eve truly worked Christmas Magic?

My Review:

What an amazingly perfect story for my busy life! This is Christi's first m/m story and it's absolutely perfect! Jason is sweet, yet strong. Ready to jump back into "dating", his BFF, Molly, encourages him to meet the man Madame Eve picked for him. Low and behold, it's someone he knows from his past and he is afraid, at first, to go through with the date.

Christi captured the angst, emotion, hotness, and tenderness in this story. I can't wait to read more m/m stories from her! If you have never read a m/m story before, this is a really good one to start with!
