Release Day: Cuffed & Claimed Anthology

I received a copy of Cuffed and Claimed by Lynne St. James in exchange for an honest review of her story, House Arrest, which is included in the book.

My Review:

Note: I have only read Lynne St James' story, House Arrest. My review and rating are based on that.

Ethan is a former airman and now small town detective. Anna is the CEO of the town’s leading real estate agency. Anna’s heart was broken when her former love was killed, so she guards her heart with a fierce determination. Until Ethan breaks down her walls and shows her it’s ok to love again.

This story features an edge of your seat suspense story, sweet and sexy love story, and characters who have ties and friendships some people only dream about. When a series of home robberies are tied to Anna’s real estate agency, Ethan and his partner, Steele, enlist her help trying to find who is behind them. I found Ethan to be sexy and sweet and Anna to be funny, a little high strung, but overall an overworked woman. Their relationship advances to a new place during this story and the sweetness and love between them is obvious and endearing. The robbery part of the story kept me wanting to read more about who was behind it. I was guessing along with the characters and did not anticipate the ending at all! I really enjoyed this one and look forward to reading more in this anthology.

Release Day and Review: The Visitor by Amanda Stevens

Title: The Visitor
Author: Amanda Stevens
Series: The Graveyard Queen #4
My Rating: 5 Stars

About the book:

My name is Amelia Gray. I'm the Graveyard Queen.

Restoring lost and abandoned cemeteries is my profession, but I'm starting to believe that my true calling is deciphering the riddles of the dead. Legend has it that Kroll Cemetery is a puzzle no one has ever been able to solve. For over half a century, the answer has remained hidden within the strange headstone inscriptions and intricate engravings. Because uncovering the mystery of that tiny, remote graveyard may come at a terrible price.

Years after their mass death, Ezra Kroll's disciples lie unquiet, their tormented souls trapped within the walls of Kroll Cemetery, waiting to be released by someone strong and clever enough to solve the puzzle. For whatever reason, I'm being summoned to that graveyard by both the living and the dead. Every lead I follow, every clue I unravel brings me closer to an unlikely killer and to a destiny that will threaten my sanity and a future with my love, John Devlin.

My Review:

I have been a HUGE fan of the Graveyard Queen series, so I could not wait for The Visitor to be released! I’m so excited that I got an ARC and dove right in and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!  In this book we learn that there is more to Amelia than just being able to see and sense ghosts. She is still seeing the sexy John Devlin, but their relationship has even more holes than a block of Swiss cheese thanks to his reluctancy to share the details of his life with her. It all puts Amelia on edge and that does not help when her home in broken in to and she ends up in the hospital with a head injury. The injury leads to even more paranormal activity and more questions than answers for Amelia.

There is so much creepiness and suspense in this story that kept me on the edge of my seat! Things in the wall, a doppelganger visiting her from beyond, and learning more about her powers creates such an intriguing and mysterious story. I LOVE IT! Of course, she has a new graveyard to work in and that, also, opens up new channels for Amelia to explore and learn about her past, her present, and her future. She and Devlin need to overcome their tension and work together to fight the darkness that lingers around the grave digger.

If you haven’t read the rest of the series, I highly suggest you do. Not because you will be lost, because you won’t. But, it is such a wonderfully, chilling, suspenseful, creepy, fantasy riddled set of stories that any fan of the genre is sure to love! This book did not disappoint me and I cannot wait for the next installment of this amazing series!

Campus Cravings Release Day!!

It's release day for Campus Cravings, a m/m anthology, featuring an assortment of amazing authors!

I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC and let me tell you, they are so darn good!!

Two standouts for me are:

Private Lessons by KyAnn Waters
and
Switching Leads by Mia Downing

Oh my hotness!! Both are 5 star stories for me!!

My review of Private Lessons:

Ryan Kane could lose his scholarship and his position on the pitch. Jake Finely offers to help. Only Ryan and Jake discover their private lessons have more to do with sex ed than Business Ethics. When a tenured professor offers Ryan an indecent proposal to make the grade, will he choose soccer or Jake?

Poor Ryan is trying to keep his grades up while playing on Cathia's soccer team. Little does he know that his professor loathes jocks and thinks Ryan is just another stereotypical one. Assistant Professor, Jake, offers to help tutor Ryan which leads to some very steamy and heated sessions. <

The story ended a lot differently than I expected...in a good way!! I love the chemistry between Jake and Ryan. Ryan's teammates also react unexpectedly, which made me smile.

I give this story a 4.5 Star Rating

My review of Switching Leads:

Coach John Graham needs a new assistant for Cathia U's equestrian team. The last person he expects to get the job walks into the barn and stops his heart. How is he supposed to focus on the team when his ex-lover—sexy horse trainer Finn Parker—wants back into his life…and into his bed?

First of all, the chemistry between Finn and John is SMOKING HOT right from the get go. Finn sees a sexy behind underneath the hood of a broken down car. Being the nice guy that he is, he goes to help and find that the sexy behind belongs to his college boyfriend, Finn. Finn is injured and in need of a job, so the Athletic Director names him Assistant Coach of the equestrian team. Too bad John is the head coach and wants nothing to do with Finn.

Throughout the story, the tension between John and Finn is steamy. John has issues going on at home and he needs a good assistant to help take the load off. But, he doesn't want that to be Finn. Seeing him all of the time hurts and creates more stress for John. The scene in the bar where Finn confronts John is one of my favorite moments in the entire story.

I give this story a solid 5 Star Rating

All of the other stories are just as good, but these are the two that really stood out to me. If you are new to the m/m genre, or are looking for a really good m/m read, you will LOVE this group of stories!!

Overall Rating: 4 Stars
